Undergraduate Thesis

My senior thesis as a biology undergraduate student at Ripon College was titled, Comparative Functional Anatomy of the Hind Limb of Foot-Propelled Diving and Swimming Birds and was published in the journal, The Ripon Biologist. Under the guidance and direction of my dear friend and mentor, Professor William S. Brooks, Ph.D. (1938-2017), I described, compared and analyzed specialized anatomical features on the legs of various diving and swimming birds. It contains many scientific illustrations, hand-drawn from real specimens. This paper established my lifelong passion for birds, nature, science and illustration.
