“In the end we will conserve only what we love;
we will love only what we understand;
and we will understand only what we are taught.”
Baba Dioum
Art and design are powerful ways to teach. Unlike any other means of communication, compelling visuals convey ideas, visions, beliefs and attitudes more effectively and deeply. Carefully crafted design can pull a person in, foster an emotional and personal connection, encourage learning about a subject and inspire action. In this case, I believe art can have a huge impact on conservation by stimulating interest and curiosity, leading to love and appreciation.
My mission is to use my artistic talents and love for animals to communicate the beauty, wonder and value of wild things and places.
In my art, I want people to first stop and look. Then to feel something. As an animal artist, I use design and illustration to ignite transformation and start meaningful conversations. Real and lasting change begins at the level of the individual.
